Appearance

The Velvet Worm has the appearance of a Worm/Centipede hybrid with a body and overall shape of a worm mixed with countless legs and a segmented and armored exoskeleton like a centipede, it has a spiked tail and spikes coming off the back of its head area, it has no visible eyes and uses its proboscis to feed on prey and has a fluid nozzle on its head.

Its unknown exactly how big the Velvet Worm would have been but it was likely fairly large in length being easily the longest monster in the game however being possibly the smallest monster in terms of height judging by the nature of the monster itself.

It would slither/crawl along the ground and likely went up wall surfaces by burrowing through them.

Finally the Velvet Worm is confirmed to be Male in gender.

Abilities

The Velvet Worm is rather mysterious since it was never truly finished however we do know some of its abilities it was capable of:

Fluid Spray

The Velvet Worm would use a nozzle on its head to fire out sticky fluid that likely trapped hunters making them easy targets, it is unknown if it does damage over time or if it just does initial impact damage and traps hunters in place.

Spring Loaded Proboscis

The Velvet Worm can fire its Proboscis that it uses to feed similarly to Behemoths Tongue Grab and would likely leech off the creature or hunter it impaled draining them to heal the Velvet Worms armor.

Traversal (Digging)

The Velvet Worm was capable of burrowing underground and likely was completely invincible while burrowing, similarly to Behemoth it likely worked on a meter instead of 3 stamina bars, it could likely burst out and attack things above ground while digging.

The rest of its moveset is unknown however it likely involved its subterranean nature.

Reasons for being cut

The Velvet Worm was ultimately scrapped due to its lack of "human characteristics" and the developers had trouble doing a slither animation for the monster and it made it as far as the concept phase.
